For many projects, the sculpting phase represents the realization of a design or concept to 3-dimensional form. From here the sculpt may go through many phases of development in order to produce the finished product. These images represent sculpting work that was executed in order to realize a design concept.

 

Seagull - Prop design, sculpt and fabrication
Contracted by Disney to produce a realistic Seagull prop for an outdoor display area at Walt Disney’s Magic Kingdom. This piece was sculpted, molded, fabricated from fiberglass and finish painted. The Seagull nest was also fabricated for this project!

The T-rex - Animated Ideas show piece
Shown here is the final sculpt for a radio controlled, animated T-rex character. For this project, the animatronic mechanisms were constructed first followed by a clay sculpt over the protected skeleton and mechanisms. See the Animatronics section for more details on the finished artwork and its movements.

 
Toy Characters - Sculpting and Fabrication

Contracted by Entech Creative Industries, Orlando, to aid in the design, sculpt and fabrication of several toy characters for a Toys R Us Ferris Wheel ride.
After some scale model design work to help establish the construction boundaries of the ride vehicles,  attention was focused primarily on the character sculpts.
 
Characters sculpted for this project included Geoffrey the Giraffe, Mr. Monopoly, ET, Mr. & Mrs. Potato Heads, M&M’s (scale model characters) and a set featuring four Toy Story 2 characters.
 
For the Toy Story 2 ride vehicle, featuring Buzz Light-year, a 3-eyed Alien, Woody & Jesse, this contract was extended to the molding and fabrication of the entire vehicle appliqués.
 
Final finish paintwork was by Entech Creative Industries Inc.
 
This ride opened to the public in November 2001 at the new multi level Toys R Us store in Times Square, New York City.

African dog - sculpted, fabricated and animated

Contracted by Integrity Attractions to sculpt and fabricate three “African Dog” characters for the Jungle Safari theme park ride in Bangkok, Thailand.

These characters were sculpted to a life-like level of appearance then molded, fabricated in fiberglass and then painted. All three characters included animated tail mechanisms constructed using a steel framework and pneumatic actuators. These characters were also produced for operation in an outdoor environment.

Tiki masks and skull appliqués - sculpted props
Contracted by IHA, FL to sculpt and fabricate decorative appliqués to serve as the frontage for a mobile Tiki bar at Walt Disney’s Adventurers Club, Pleasure Island. Appliqués included these masks, skull posts, decorative panels and a sculpted sign panel. All items were fabricated and finished to withstand an outdoor environment.
